Flipping loved seeing Justice at Ally Pally last week.

1). It was very loud, but there was no harsh frequencies.

2). The lights were imaginative and evolved throughout the show. Changing and evolving with the music.

3) The warm up DJs played a respectful remix of early eighties synth masterpiece 'The Chase' by Giorgio Moroder. Written for the Oscar winning movie Midnight Express. Which was mega to hear through a proper sound system. If I'm honest you, I had a bit of transcendental moment…

::: TANGENT :::

You see, Midnight Express was made by a bunch of Ad Men from an old and highly regarded agency called Collett Dickenson Pearce (CDP). The Producer of the film was called David Puttnam - and he used to be a non-exec chairman of a digital agency I worked at circa 2007 called Profero.

David used to come in to the open plan office in Camden and tell us inspirational stories from the days of CDP and his adventures into Hollywood.

Like any young person, I didn't realise how fucking awesome this was.

I do now though. And I realise the impact David's visits have had on me.

That is this.

He helped reinforce the idea in me that every brief is an opportunity to make something above and beyond the confines of what is expected. To aim higher. Think bigger. To never stop dreaming. And back your dreams with sweat.

Because if you do approach your work like this, you may play a part in making something so good, that over 40 years after you've made it, it can be played out by world famous French electro house DJ's to a packed out Ally Pally in London. And sound just as good as the day it was made.

And in a world that seems in a hurry to throw fucking everything away, this inspires me.

::: BACK TO GIG :::

4) The bass was excellent. Very deep.

Overall, the vibe was bang on and after a few successful trips, I now have a serious soft spot for this venue.

While we're talking about Justice, might as well rewatch this classic.
